How HDFC Bank hires, and how to get in: 2026

HDFC Bank lost roughly 49,100 permanent staff in the year to March 2026 and still ended it 3,343 people smaller, which means it hired somewhere near 45,800 people while shrinking. Its own SEBI-mandated report puts the median annual pay of a male employee at ₹6,81,759 and of a female employee at ₹4,81,290, and 77 per cent of its 2,11,178 staff sit in non-supervisory grades. HDFC Bank hired somewhere close to 45,800 people in the year to March 2026, and still finished that year with 3,343 fewer people than it started with.

Both halves of that sentence matter, and neither is on the careers site. The bank's Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report puts permanent employee turnover for FY2025-26 at 23.1 per cent. Applied to an average headcount of about 2,12,850, that is roughly 49,100 permanent staff walking out of the door in twelve months. Over the same twelve months the permanent headcount fell from 2,14,521 to 2,11,178. Subtract, and the bank must have taken in somewhere in the region of 45,400 to 46,200 people just to end the year smaller.
