How Amazon hires, and how to get in: 2026

Amazon publishes that different interviewers in your loop are each assigned different Leadership Principles to score, which makes preparation a grid of 16 rows rather than a list of stories. The most useful thing to know about hiring at Amazon is that the Leadership Principles are a scoring instrument, not a poster, and Amazon says so in public: different interviewers in your loop are each assigned different principles to evaluate.

Read that literally, because it is not how most companies run a panel. The five people who interview you are not all probing the same thing and comparing notes afterwards. Each one carries an assignment, writes up what they saw against that assignment, and brings the writing to the debrief. A candidate with three superb stories looks strong to one interviewer and thin to the other four. A candidate with two usable stories against each of the 16 principles looks consistent to everyone in the room. Every route in that Amazon actually operates

Amazon University Talent. Internships and graduate roles, run by a dedicated recruiting organisation Amazon calls Amazon University Talent Acquisition. Graduate postings carry a published eligibility window rather than a marks cut-off.
Experienced or lateral hiring. The main door. Role-specific loops, described below, with published stage lists for software development, software development management, technical programme management, programme management, business intelligence engineering, front-end engineering, applied science and security engineering.
Pathways. A leadership development route into senior positions in Amazon Operations.

Amazon Women of the World (WoW). A university programme covering technical skills, interviewing and Amazon culture. Amazon does not publish eligibility rules or a selection process for it on the public page, so treat it as a pipeline and community programme rather than a guaranteed shortlisting route.
Injah, the Amazon Future Leaders Program. A national talent programme for Emirati candidates.
Career Choice. Not a way in, but worth knowing: Amazon states in its FY2025 annual report that "Over 300,000 Amazon employees around the world have participated in Career Choice", up from over 240,000 a year earlier. Amazon Form 10-K, FY2025 and FY2024

Amazon does not publish a referral bonus scheme, a campus marks cut-off, a backlog rule or a gap-year rule on any page we could find. Several large Indian employers do publish those. Amazon does not, and we will not invent them.
